PATC’s Womens -First Day Hike 2026

Join me on January 1, 2026 we will kick off the new year with a Sunrise First Day Hike at Sky Meadow VA State Park.

Meet Time& Place
Meet by the Trailhead aross the road from the parking area at the historic site by 5:45. We will depart at 6:00am.

Hike: 3 Miles. Piedmont Overlook Trail, North Ridge & Ambassador Whitehouse Trail to Piedmont Memorial Overlook.

We will start out on the Piedmont Overlook trail and watch the sunrise from the 1st overlook. (I think this has the better view than the second overlook). After watching the sunrise we will hike up to the second overlook and catch the North Ridge Trail. From North Ridge trail we will take the Ambassador Whitehouse Trail to the Piedmont Memorial Overlook. We will then retrace our steps back to the parking area.

ReHydration: For those wishing to meet up after hike to have breakfast and a drink we will meet up at TBD.

First Day Hikes began in Massachusetts in 1992 and came on nationwide in 2012 under America's State Parks. Whether it's a hike, snowshoe, or even a swim, First Day Hikes are an opportunity for park visitors to start the new year on the right foot in the outdoors. These programs welcome new park visitors as well as those seasoned patrons for a variety of opportunities all across the country
