Indian Grave Ridge Trail to Habron Gap Trail via Massanutten Trail

Details: Please join us for this point-to-point strenuous hike within the George Washington National Forest including beautiful winter mountain views from Massanutten Mountain east across the Shenandoah Valley and South Fork of the Shenandoah River and west into Fort Valley.
After positioning vehicles at the beginning and end points of the hike, we will hike up Indian Grave Ridge Trail to the Massanutten Trail. Continuing south on the Massanutten Trail for approximately 3.25 miles, we will descend on the Habron Gap Trail.
The hike is approximately 7.75 miles with approximately 1,260 feet of elevation gain and 1,440 feet of elevation loss.
Hike Route: Indian Grave Ridge to Habron Gap
Hiking Pace: We typically hike about 2 mph (faster on flat sections, slower on hilly / rocky sections); however, we leave no one behind and will move at a pace that is comfortable for all.
What to Bring: At least two liters of water, emergency contact information, personal first aid kit and medications, snacks/meal, sunscreen, trekking poles if you use them, sturdy hiking footwear.

Time to Meet: Please meet by 9:00 am for introductions and sign in. We will carpool/convoy to Foster’s Landing Parking Lot (Habron Gap trailhead) to drop-off vehicles and then proceed to Indian Grave Ridge Trail parking lot to drop off vehicles and begin the hike. After the hike we will recover the vehicles at Indian Grave Ridge trailhead. If you can't make the hike, please cancel your RSVP by 6 pm the night before to allow others on the waiting list to join. There is often limited/no cell service in the area, so hike leaders may not receive messages the day of the hike.
