Step Into Summer: Women’s Hiking & Leave No Trace Basics
Step Into Summer is a beginner-friendly program designed to help women feel confident, prepared, and comfortable getting outdoors during the summer hiking season.

This session covers the essentials of warm-weather hiking, including clothing and layering for heat, hydration strategies, sun protection, basic gear, and how to stay safe in changing summer trail conditions like heat waves or sudden storms.

Participants will also be introduced to Leave No Trace principles and how to apply them responsibly in summer environments—such as protecting fragile vegetation, managing waste properly, respecting wildlife, and minimizing impact on popular and sensitive trails.

Please make sure to bring your book bag/backpack to the program. We will be doing an interactive “What’s in Your Book Bag?” activity where participants will explore essential hiking items, discuss trail preparedness, and learn what to carry for safe and enjoyable summer adventures.

The program is focused on building practical skills, awareness, and confidence so participants can enjoy safe, enjoyable, and responsible summer hiking experiences from local trails to longer outdoor adventures.

We will take a short hike after the presentation

Make sure to bring snack and water.
