Bull Run Occoquan Trail and Hemlock Overlook, A Challenging 10-Mile Hike

The Bull Run/Occoquan Trail (BROT) runs along the southern boundary of Fairfax County, VA. The trail begins in Fountainhead Regional Park and ends in Bull Run Regional Park 19 miles west. The trail meanders through 5000 acres of mature hardwoods, along the Occoquan River and Bull Run, and up and down multiple hills.
Our hike will start near Bull Run Marina and then follow the BROT to Hemlock Overlook Regional Park. We will loop through this park and then rejoin the BROT to return to our starting point.

Bring water and wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Most of the time we will be shaded by the forest, but we do cross about a mile of open/sunny areas. We will start promptly at 9:00. Arrive by 8:45. This will allow time to gear up, complete the orientation and start the hike on time. Be sure to pack a lunch. Please arrange car pooling if possible.

Time to Meet: Please meet at 8:45 for introductions and sign in. We will start hiking promptly at 9:00.

The APPROXIMATE Street address is 12619 Old Yates Ford Rd, Clifton, VA NOTE: This address is approximate. If you are traveling south on Old Yates Ford Road, the parking lot will be on the left. We will gather towards the southern end of this large paved parking lot.
