Colvin Run Mill to Potomac River: A Moderate 9-Mile Hike

Join us for a scenic trek along a leafy, tucked-away gem in Great Falls, VA! This hike follows the northernmost section of Fairfax County’s Cross County Trail (CCT) along Difficult Run Stream, taking you from a historic, water-powered mill all the way to where the stream empties into the majestic Potomac River. The hike highlights Historic Colvin Run Mil, Difficult Run Cascades and the Potomac River confluence. The hike starts and end at a working 19th-century water-powered mill situated on land once owned by George Washington. On the way we follow a trail along the stream and pause for lunch at the scenic cascades. We continue following the winding stream valley to the spot where Difficult Run flows into the Potomac River, then return to the mill

Please meet at 9:15 for introductions and sign in. We will start hiking promptly at 9:30
