DESCRIPTION
The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) is sponsoring TWO, YES TWO First Aid/CPR/AED training courses (15 in each) at CentennialFest noon-3:30 Friday October 2nd AND 9-12:30 Saturday October 3rd.
The course is designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis and for a wide range of conditions. The course will be completed in two parts: online learning and hands-on experience at CentennialFest for situations hike leaders and sawyer teams might encounter on the trail.

First Aid Training is twofold. First, it helps you recognize the signs that someone actually needs help and, second, it prepares you to respond when minutes matter. Remember, an emergency can happen when you least expect it. While it may be something as simple as properly caring for cuts and scrapes, it can also be a lifesaving tool that keeps someone alive until help arrives.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training. When a sudden cardiac arrest event happens, minutes matter. You will learn simple-to-use techniques and information that can help you save a life. You will learn the CPR steps, including hand placement, compression rate and rescue breathing.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training. You will learn when and how to use an (AED) in conjunction with CPR.
Once training is complete, your Red Cross certification is good for 2 years.
