Ever wonder who keeps your favorite hiking trails clear? Join us for a unique event that pairs a scenic hike with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at trail stewardship! On this excursion, we will meet a Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) trail maintenance crew to learn firsthand how this organization keeps 1,000 miles of regional trails pristine—including Rock Creek Park, massive segments of the AT, the entire Tuscarora Trail, and essential networks across four states and DC.

The hike is a 6-mile loop trail. It departs from the Rock Creek Park Nature Center, and travels through the heart of Rock Creek. About 2 miles into the hike, we will meet with the PATC trail crew who will tell us about the work they do to maintain the trails we love to hike. The hike is generally considered a moderate one. The hike will likely take 3.5 hours to complete, which includes time for our visit with the trail maintenance crew.

Time to Meet: Please meet at 8:45 for introductions and sign in. We will start hiking promptly at 9:00.
