Landscape Restoration - Invasive Plant Removal Ashby Gap, VA

Spend a fun day protecting the natural resources surrounding the Appalachian Trail (AT). We will be tackling a large infestation of non- native invasive woody plants (multiflora, oriental bittersweet, Tree-of-Heaven, privet, etc) on NPS land south of Ashby Gap. No experience necessary, we'll train.
Come prepared to do battle against these problematic invasives. We will on working off-trail, in sometimes thick understory. We will be cutting/sawing stems and (only if you are willing) daubing a little herbicide on cut stems (under the supervision of a Commercial Pesticide Applicator). Work for folks wanting to only mechanically remove plants as well.
Bring water, lunch/snack, work gloves, long pants, long sleeve shirt and sturdy appropriate footwear. Other PPE for folks using herbicides will be provided.
