ADDITION FROM ORIGINAL PLAN: This is a two event day! We are meeting at the McDonald's at SR54 and US41 in Land O Lakes, KSU 9:30. From there, we are heading north to Crystal River for the annual Purple Heart Ceremony.
You are invited to attend the Seventh annual Purple Heart Ceremony at the FL National Guard Armory, Crystal River, FL. The ceremony will feature the MOPH Dept of FL Afghanistan / Iraq War Memorial Portrait Mural. The mural honors over 300 Floridians who have fallen during the Irag / Afghanistan campaigns and is the first memorial to bear both the engraved names and color portraits of those who fell.
From there, we will head over to the 6th Annual Bivouac & Barracks event benefitting the WWII Barracks Museum. Some of the things you will see are WWII Encampments, Military Vehicles, WWII Battle Re-enactments, Vintage Aircraft, Weapons Demos and much more. On Friday at noon will be a weapons demonstration.
I find such events make expand our knowledge and our appreciation of what it takes to keep our country free. Through such displays, one can gain fuller understanding of what men and women have endured as they protected us and our country.
(Saturday at noon is a weapons demo, battle re-enactment at 2pm. I would plan on arriving in Zephyrhills in time for the 2 pm re-enactment. For those who may also be interested, there will be a dinner menu served from 5pm to 8pm with a USO show beginning at 7:00pm as Bonnie Gray presents “A Tribute to the Andrews Sisters” at the Zephyrhills Amvets at 4645 Airport Road just a few blocks from the Barracks Museum.)
Admission is free to the public. Looking forward to seeing all of you at these great events.
