Meetup is Closing!!…….Nah! We’re Moving To Facebook

If you're not already aware, at this stage come September, we will be closing the Meetup group and will be using Facebook as a platform for our events. It is unfortunate that this has come down to costs

Last year Meetup up notified us that they were raising their fees, almost doubling the cost. We took the hit as we only had two weeks notice before payment. Meetup fees are charged in US dollars, so take in the exchange rate and an international processing fee and it now costs roughly $600 per yearto host a group. This is a ridiculous amount for one person or one couple to pay and we’re finding it especially difficult with the other personal losses we’ve had so far this year.

We know not everyone likes to be on Facebook but it would take a nice windfall or a very generous donation/s to keep our Meetup group going. We're also hoping to explore the possibility of Bunchups when it launches soon.
