What we’re about
This group is for writers and anyone who enjoys giving critique on half-baked novels and short fiction. We meet every two weeks to support each other's writing through writing critiques. Members are welcome to submit work for every session or less often if that's all they can manage.
Writers and critiquers of all levels are welcome, but the group is particularly for unpublished writers who write. By which I mean writers who have the dedication to carve out time to write on a regular basis. Or those who want a group to hold them accountable when they don't and help them become writers who write.
All genres are welcome, but I'm particularly interested in science fiction and fantasy since that's what I write. Likewise, writers of all story lengths and for all age groups are welcome. Please note, however, that this is not a screenwriting or poetry writing group.
About the Organizer
I am an unpublished writer working on my second novel and just starting to experiment with short story writing. I write fantasy and science fiction and make sure to cram some writing time into my schedule at least three or four days a week. Some of my favorite authors are Neil Gaiman, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Margaret Atwood.
A note on content
I believe it's extremely important not to isolate oneself from people who hold different political, religious or cultural beliefs, particularly for writers whose job it is to understand and articulate the views of characters who are not them. For this reason, this group is open to anyone, as long as they are open to friendly disagreement, should it arise. That said, if you'd be uncomfortable discussing books with openly gay characters, this may not be the group for you.
