East Bank PDX Photo Walk - Tillicum Bridge & Railroad Museum

Beginning at OMSI, we will cross the Tillicum Bridge and then cross back to visit the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. The rail museum is free, with donations accepted, and is open from 1pm-5pm, Thursday through Sunday. Aside from the views of the river and city from the bridge, and the history of the rail museum, there will be good opportunities for street and architectural photography.

This hike is on paved sidewalks and street crossings, so I would rate as easy.

The current 10-day weather forecast shows light clouds, low 70s, and no rain for this 2-hour window. If that changes, I intend to be there for the photographic opportunity.

Parking at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) costs $5 for two hours, but it seems secure. Plan to meet at the T-Rex in front of OMSI.

Parking is said to be available and free at the Rail museum

• My hiking style is to pay attention to our surroundings and take photos of whatever captures my sight. Please do not expect this to be a fast-paced hike. It’s important to stop, see and feel our world!
• But we also need to keep pace as a group and not stop too often or for too long, or we'll never finish.
• Know that I am a passionate hobbyist photographer, not a “pro”, not a camera expert, nor a classroom teacher. This is not a photo workshop, we are shooting for pleasure, perhaps asking questions and sharing tips on composition and photo processing.
• Smartphone cameras are absolutely fine for this walk, but bring whatever gear you like.
• We can learn much from each other about photography, plants, wildlife, history, culture and geography in our environment.

WHAT TO BRING:
Best behavior.
Sunscreen or rain gear and layers depending on the weather.
Good footwear.
Water/snack if needed.
Smartphone, dedicated camera, journal, or anything to capture your art.
