What we’re about
PDX Sewists is a new community of sewing enthusiasts to connect from all over the Portland area. While the group is intended for garment makers, there's no reason quilters couldn't also enjoy participating in the meetups. If you love sewing, discussing sewing techniques, sharing knowledge, and showing off your work, this is the group for you!
While this group is a PDX centric group as that is the area where the in-person events take place, anyone can join the group as there will hopefully be able to be virtual events as well in the future.
As the group finds it's groove, meetups will start as opportunities for fabric or pattern swaps with show & tell and conversation time. As the group builds and develops a rhythm, I hope for there to be events around experts sharing knowledge or similar type events also.
This group is not affiliated with any business or organization. That should change it will be updated here, but I would aim for the affiliation to be surrounding getting promotions for members with local fabric stores.
Lastly, I do not intend to ask for any dues or fees as part of joining this group. As/if the group grows such that it starts to cost money to run via the meetup site or event venues, I will make available an ability for people to donate to help handle the costs.
