Science Pub Portland: Paleontology at John Day

Details
Oregon used to be home to some pretty surprising animals (think camels, rhinos, and crocodiles) that we know about thanks to the fossils discovered in John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Sound intriguing? If you're single and a little nerdy about science, history, geology, evolution, or learning new things... join us!
Here's the blurb for the event: "Bringing one of Oregon’s great national parks to you, learn about the incredible paleontological history preserved and studied at John Day Fossil Beds National Monument from its chief paleontologist, Nick Famoso, as the park celebrates its 50th anniversary. In addition, learn from the National Parks Conservation Association about efforts to protect the greater John Day landscape and how you can participate."
Wait, what is this event? This will be a casual lecture in the (very cool) Empirical Theater at OMSI.

Care to join us?
- Get your ticket ahead of time (the suggested donation is $8) before it potentially sells out.
- Let's meet up at OMSI at 5:45 so we can say hello before the doors open at 6, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts.
- Find Kristina or Brent (we'll wear ridiculous crowns to make it easier) and introduce yourself. We'll cross you off the list, and maybe give you a wristband if we end up with a large group.
- After the event, folks could go to a nearby bar/restaurant to socialize more.
Reminder: Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include no harassing or aggressive behavior, no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent, and using your real name and photo in your Meetup profile. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) know or reach out to another group organizer (like Max, Kevin, Cory or Erin).
