I recently learned about these Forest Pub events that the World Forestry Center puts on, and I'm intrigued! Anyone care to join me and see what they're like?

Here's the pitch: Join fellow tree-loving singles for a Forest Pub lecture on the role of fire in our landscapes.

And if you have a nature-y/science-y/tree-themed t-shirt or something you'd want to wear for funsies or as a conversation starter, go for it! (This is totally optional, but I'll probably use this as an opportunity to wear one of my somewhat neglected shirts from a national park or environmental non-profit or something.)

Care to join us?

  • Get your ticket ahead of time before it quite possibly sells out. (It's a sliding scale, so you pay $10 or $15 or $20 for your ticket.)
  • Let's meet up at Mission Theater (probably just inside the main entrance) at 5:45 so we can say hello before they let everyone in to the theater, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts.
  • Find Kristina (I'll wear a ridiculous crown to make it easier) and introduce yourself.
  • After the event, folks could go to a nearby bar/restaurant to socialize more.

Wait, what is this Forest Pub event? Here's the blurb for the event: "This month, we’re teaming up with Columbia Land Trust and Lomakatsi Restoration Project for a powerful conversation about why fire belongs on our landscapes. From controlled and prescribed burns to traditional cultural burning, communities and land stewards are using fire to restore balance and build healthier, more resilient forests.
Join us as we explore the science, history, and human stories behind this essential work—and why it matters now more than ever." For more info on this event, go here.

Reminder: Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include being respectful and honest, no harassing or aggressive behavior, and no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) know or reach out to another group organizer (like Max, Kevin, Cory or Erin).

Any questions? Comment below.

**P.S. If anyone (who's been to a few of our events recently) would be interested in hosting an event in the PDX Single 30 & 40 Somethings group, please reach out to me/Kristina. I'm at maximum capacity for hosting, but I'd love to support more organizers posting more events :-)
