This probably isn't relevant to annnnnnything happening in the world today, but who wants to check out this History Pub event with me?

We'll learn about one of the "camps" where the US government incarcerated people of Japanese descent after the Pearl Harbor attack, and about how the people (most of whom were US citizens) lived while they were held there and after they were free to go.

The event will be a screening of the 27-minute documentary "Amache: An American Injustice" followed by a discussion and Q&A with the director John Banyard, Hanako Wakatsuki-Chong and Lynn Fuchigami from the Japanese American Museum of Oregon (JAMO), John Hasegawa from Mt. Hood Community College, and former US congressperson Mike Honda. You can learn more about the event and speakers here.

Care to join us?

  • Get your ticket ahead of time before it quite possibly sells out. (Tickets are $5.)
  • Let's meet up at the theater inside McMenamin's Kennedy School just before 6 so we can say hello before they open the doors, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts at 7.
  • Find Kristina (I'll wear a ridiculous crown to make it easier) and introduce yourself.
  • After the event, folks could go to a nearby bar/restaurant to socialize more.

Reminder: Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include being respectful and honest, no harassing or aggressive behavior, no discrimination, and no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) know or reach out to another group organizer (like Max, Kevin, Cory or Erin).

Any questions? Comment below or message me/Kristina.

**P.S. If anyone (who's been to a few of our events recently) would be interested in hosting an event in the PDX Single 30 & 40 Somethings group, please reach out to me/Kristina. I'm at maximum capacity for hosting, but I'd love to support more organizers posting more events :-)
