Science Pub: 50 Years of Paleontology at John Day

Oregon used to be home to some pretty surprising animals (think camels, rhinos, and crocodiles) that we know about thanks to the fossils discovered in John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Sound intriguing? If you're single and a little nerdy about science, history, geology, evolution, or learning new things... join us!

And if you have a nerdy/science-y t-shirt or something you'd want to wear for funsies or as a conversation starter, go for it! (This is totally optional, but Kristina, Chris and Brent probably will.)

Care to join us?

• Get your ticket ahead of time (the suggested donation is $8) before it most likely sells out.
• Let's meet up inside the McMenamin's Kennedy School by the theater so we can say hello before the doors open at 6, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts.
• Find Kristina, Chris or Brent (we'll wear ridiculous crowns to make it easier) and introduce yourself.
• After the event, some folks may go to a nearby bar/restaurant to socialize more.

Wait, what is this Science Pub event? This will be a casual lecture in a cool theater. Here's the blurb for the event: "Bringing one of Oregon’s great national parks to you, learn about the incredible paleontological history preserved and studied at John Day Fossil Beds Monument from its chief paleontologist, Nick Famoso, as the park celebrates its 50th anniversary. In addition, learn from the National Parks Conservation Association about efforts to protect the greater John Day landscape so its remarkable history and natural wonders are preserved for generations to come."
