Wanna check out the Oregon Zoo's adults-only, after-hours event with me and other rad single folks? We'd love for you to join us!

The July Wild Wednesday event has an "Island Time" theme and here are some of the things you can expect: various vendors with themed cocktails/mocktails and food available for purchase (note: the zoo is cashless), hula dancing performances and lessons, all the carousel and zoo train rides you want, some keeper talks and animal encounters, and many adult homo sapiens dressed in their favorite island attire (floral prints, fun hats, etc.). For more info on Wild Wednesday, click here.

Here's how to join us:

  • Step 1: Get your ticket (for July 1, 6 pm entrance time) before it quite possibly sells out. They're $20 and you don't need to add on a train or carousel ticket.
  • Step 2: Meet us at the zoo, either just before 6 pm right outside the entrance or before 6:30 inside the zoo at the amphitheater in the back by the elephants. Look for Kristina in a long blue dress with a pink umbrella or other group members with green wristbands.
  • Step 3: Get a wristband from Kristina (to try to help us spot others from our group as we explore) if you want one.
  • Step 4: Check out the zoo, activities, drink/food vendors, carousel or train, etc. with some folks in the group. We'll probably naturally split off into several smaller groups, but do whatever feels fun to you.
  • And if you ever want to mix things up and meet other people or just take a break, you can head back to our group's meeting spot in the amphitheater. We'll use that as a bit of a hub for the group throughout the night.

Tips for getting there:

  • There's a Max light rail stop right at the zoo and various TriMet park and rides around town, which makes it a pretty easy way to get there and home.
  • Finding parking at the zoo can be rough, even though it's paid.
  • Traffic can also be tricky, particularly around the Vista Ridge Tunnel on 26 near the zoo.

Housekeeping:

  • Please keep your RSVP up to date and check in with Kristina when you arrive so you don't get marked as a no-show. We regularly remove people with 2+ no-shows from the group.
  • Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include no harassing or aggressive behavior, no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent, and only showing up to events you're on the 'going' list for. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) or an Oregon zoo employee know right away so we can help.
  • Reminder: Meetup hosts/organizers are volunteers who dedicate their time, planning skills, emotional labor, and a little money (pens, nametags, etc.) to make these events possible... and we can't control everything. Thanks for your understanding and appreciation - it goes a long way :-)
  • Interested in hosting? Please reach out to me/Kristina. I'm at maximum capacity for hosting, but I'd love to support more organizers posting more events.
