Wild Wednesday for singles @ the zoo (canceled for air quality)
Details
Wednesday afternoon update:
- I've decided to cancel this Meetup event since the air quality is so bad today (as of 2 pm it's in the unhealthy or "nah" zone where I live).
- The zoo hasn't canceled the Wild Wednesday event on their end yet (ticket holders will get an email if they do), so anyone who wants to can still go and use the comments section of this Meetup event to find each other.
- If you bought a ticket and aren't comfortable going tonight, email etickets@oregonzoo.org to ask if they're canceling and what your options are. They should offer you a daytime zoo pass or a discount to a future 21+ event.

Wanna check out the Oregon Zoo's adults-only, after-hours event with me and other rad single folks? We'd love for you to join us!
The August Wild Wednesday event has a "Retro Rewind" theme and here are some of the things you can expect: various vendors with themed cocktails/mocktails and food available for purchase (note: the zoo is cashless), retro tunes from DJ Action Slacks, carousel and zoo train rides (they may charge a couple extra bucks for these), some keeper talks and animals to see (not all animals will be visible this time of day, but there should still be plenty to see), and some adult homo sapiens dressed in their favorite retro attire from any decade (roaring '20s, bohemian '60s, '90s grunge, etc.) exploring the zoo together. For more info on Wild Wednesday, click here.
Here's how to join us:
- Step 1: Get your ticket (for August 5, 6 pm entrance time) before it quite possibly sells out. They're $20.
- Step 2: Meet us at the zoo, either just before 6 pm outside the entrance or before 6:30 inside the zoo in the central plaza (see the attached map I drew on). Look for Kristina holding a pink umbrella (until 6:30) and other group members with green wristbands.
- Step 3: Get a wristband from Kristina (to try to help us spot others from our group as we explore) if you want one.
- Step 4: Check out the zoo, activities, drink/food vendors, with some folks in the group. We'll probably naturally split off into several smaller groups, but do whatever feels fun to you.
- And if you ever want to mix things up and meet other people... head back to our group's meeting spot in the central plaza and/or keep an eye out for fellow group members with green wristbands and say hi and invite them to join you.
Tips for getting there:
- There's a Max light rail stop right at the zoo and various TriMet park and rides around town.
- Parking at the zoo is paid until 8 pm (it's free after that).
- Traffic can be tricky this time of day, particularly around the Vista Ridge Tunnel on 26 near the zoo.
Housekeeping:
- Please keep your RSVP up to date and check in with Kristina when you arrive so you don't get marked as a no-show.
- Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host (like Kristina) or an Oregon zoo employee know right away so we can help.
- Reminder: Meetup hosts/organizers are volunteers who dedicate their time, planning skills, emotional labor, and a little money (pens, nametags, etc.) to make these events possible... and we can't control everything. Thanks for your understanding and appreciation - it goes a long way :-)
- Interested in hosting? Please reach out to me/Kristina. I'm at maximum capacity for hosting, but I'd love to support more organizers posting more events.
Any questions? Let me know in the comments or send me a message. (If you have questions during or just before the event, please post in the comments so anyone can answer. I won't be able to check my phone much once I leave my house.)
