Science Pub: Forensic Science (sold out)
Details
Let's see what we can learn in an hour of a fun, photo-filled presentation from local forensics experts — and how many fellow science lovers we can meet in the hour beforehand. And if you have a nerdy/science-y t-shirt or something you'd want to wear for funsies or as a conversation starter, go for it! (This is totally optional, but Kristina will.)
Wait, what is this Science Pub event? This will be a casual lecture in a cool theater. Here's the blurb: "This eye-opening presentation will explore what the popular presentation of forensic science misses: that while it can be an incredible tool for investigating and solving crime, it can also fail us or be misused. Learn why some forensic science disciplines lack the rigorous scientific foundation you’d expect, why not all forensic evidence is the same, and how faulty forensic practices contribute to wrongful convictions." For more info on this event, go here.
If you're single and a little nerdy about true crime, the legal system, science, or learning new things... we hope you'll join us!
Here's the plan:
- Get your ticket asap (the suggested donation is $8) before it most likely sells out a week or two before the event. Seriously.
- Let's meet up inside the McMenamin's Kennedy School by the theater so we can say hello before the doors open at 6, grab seats together, get a drink/snack, and chat a bit before the presentation starts.
- Find Kristina (I'll wear a ridiculous crown to make it easier) and introduce yourself.
- After the event, some folks may go to a nearby bar/restaurant to socialize more.
Reminder: Make sure to follow the Community Rules in this group's About section. These include being respectful and honest, no harassing or aggressive behavior, and no touching anyone at an event without explicit verbal consent. If anyone violates these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, please let the event host know or reach out to another group organizer (like Brenda, Max, Kevin, Dan, Cory, Cat, Caitlin or Erin).
