PDX Stoa (Stoicism Group Meeting & Discussion)

Details
Life has a way of throwing curveballs — a neighbor that takes up interpretive saxophone, a cat that only throws up on things you love.
Wouldn’t it be nice to handle all of it with a little more calm and a lot more purpose?
That’s what Stoic Philosophy is all about.
No, it's not about bottling up your feelings or turning into a robot. It's a time-tested way of thinking that helps you stay grounded, intentional, and resilient—especially when life gets messy. And our Stoicism discussion group is the perfect place to dip your toe in the water (no toga required).
🎯 Here’s how it works:
Each person brings a short Stoicism passage that speaks to them — something about staying steady, letting go of what they can't control, or just being a better human. We each read our passage out loud, then chat about how it actually applies to our everyday lives. What does it look like to live with more purpose and less panic?
📝 Bonus points: bring 8 to 10 printed copies of your chosen passage so others can read along. It doesn’t have to be fancy — just something that speaks to you and your personal journey.
Whether you’re brand new to Stoic philosophy or just trying to figure out how to stop spiraling every time the Wi-Fi drops, you’ll be in good company.
Come join us for an evening of thoughtful conversation, shared wisdom, and a few aha moments. You just might leave with a new way to weather life’s storms — with a little more peace and a little less panic.
