PDX Stoa (Stoic Philosophy Discussion Group)
Details
Modern life seems determined to keep everyone slightly on edge. Messages pile up. Opinions collide. Minor inconveniences get promoted to full-blown crises.
Stoic Philosophy is the practice of stepping back from that constant escalation and remembering that not everything deserves your emotional energy.
At this PDX Stoa gathering, we’ll spend an evening doing exactly that. We’ll ease in with refreshments and snacks, then, weather permitting, move outside to settle in around the fire for relaxed, thoughtful conversation.
We’ll share short Stoic passages, talk about how they show up in real life, and enjoy the rare pleasure of discussing big ideas without anyone trying to win.
Please bring a short Stoic quote or passage that speaks to you, along with 10–12 printed copies to share.
Whether you’re new to Stoicism or simply looking for more steadiness in a noisy world, you’ll find good company, good conversation, and a chance to leave feeling a little more grounded.
