PDX Stoa (Stoic Philosophy Discussion Group)
Details
Some evenings feel like a quiet act of rebellion. Everyone in a hurry and even a minor inconvenience can somehow carry the emotional force of a Shakespearean death scene.
Stoic Philosophy offers a different posture. Not withdrawal. Not indifference. Just the steady, increasingly rare skill of remaining unbothered while the surrounding world auditions for a breakdown. A calm face. A clear mind. A little more distance between what happens and how you choose to respond.
At this PDX Stoa gathering, we will spend an evening practicing exactly that. We will begin with snacks and beverages, then head outside for a lovely evening under the stars gathered around the fire.
Please bring a short Stoic quote or passage that inspires you, along with 10 to 12 printed copies to share with the group.
Whether you are brand new to Stoicism or simply hungry for a saner way to move through modern life, you will find good company, good conversation, and a chance to leave feeling steadier, quieter, and just a little harder to rattle.
