PDX Stoa (Stoic Philosophy Discussion Group)
Details
Summer is supposed to be the season of ease. And yet — the calendar fills, the group chats multiply, and the inbox keeps office hours even when you don't.
The Stoics had a different idea. Calm isn't something you pencil in for later; it's a skill you practice right in the middle of the noise. Choosing steadiness while everyone else gets yanked around — that's the quiet rebellion.
At our next PDX Stoa gathering, we'll enjoy the warm summer weather and drift outside for a fireside chat. We'll read a few short passages and talk about how they hold up against an ordinary Tuesday.
What to bring: a short Stoic quote or passage that means something to you, plus 10–12 printed copies to share.
Whether you've been reading the Stoics for years or you're just curious what all the fuss is about, come hang out — you'll probably leave feeling a little steadier than when you showed up.
