Wanting something is perfectly normal. Trouble begins when a preference gets promoted and starts issuing orders: My plans must work. People must behave. Reality must cooperate.

At this interactive PDX Stoa workshop, we’ll explore the “Discipline of Desire.” This is not about becoming a human shrug emoji. It’s about pursuing what matters without turning “I want this” into “I cannot be okay without this.”

Using small-group discussions and playful games, we’ll examine what we want, resist, and demand from reality. No previous Stoic philosophy experience is required, just a willingness to laugh at the universe and ourselves.
