Float the Sandy River - a right of passage!

Details

Join us for a quintessential Pacific Northwestern experience as we float down the Sandy River – a right of passage for those embracing the spirit of the region. Are you ready to redefine your river adventures? (Ok we love ChatGPT how cheesy was that!)

The Sandy River offers an ideal introduction, especially for newcomers from New York City, where the East River reigns. Prepare to witness what a true river should look like!

Here's what you'll need to bring:

  1. Swimwear: Yes, it might sound obvious, but trust us, you'll encounter plenty of free spirits along the way without them.
  2. Float: Let your creativity shine with your choice of floatation device. From cat unicorns to floating queen beds, anything goes – just ensure it's both buoyant and durable to withstand occasional encounters with the riverbed.
  3. Food and Drink: This 2-3 hour adventure calls for sustenance. Pro tip: Chips and salsa have a way of bringing everyone together, litterally!
  4. Sunscreen: We're aiming for tan lines, not lobster red.
  5. Dry Bag: Keep your essentials (phones, keys, clothes) safe from the river's embrace. If you don't have one, team up with a friend who does.
  6. Life Vest: Safety first! If swimming isn't your forte, a life vest is highly recommended. If you can't swim, this outing may not be the best fit – let's not have to schedule a celebration of life meetup.

These are the essentials.

As for what we'll provide:

  1. Nothing.
  2. Absolutely nothing.
  3. Zilch.

Safety and responsibility are paramount on this wild river journey. Respect the water, and it will treat you kindly. Also what you pack in you pack out. Don't litter or we might drown you!

Stay tuned for more details closer to the event, including put-in location (likely Dabney State Recreation Area), parking information, and timings.

Feel free to comment below if you have extra floats, life vests, or any other essentials to share with fellow adventurers.

We are looking forward to a large turnout... of free spirits!
