LAST MINUTE BUCKET LIST: The Northern Lights - This Weekend!

Details
Hello Transplants!
Many of us hail from regions further south and have likely never witnessed the awe-inspiring phenomenon of the Northern Lights. However, this weekend presents a rare opportunity. A significant solar storm is forecasted to grace our skies, potentially making the Aurora Borealis visible even at these latitudes. Of course, to fully appreciate this celestial spectacle, one must escape the glare of city lights. Here's our suggestion:
Head to Vista House for an unparalleled view:
What to bring:
- Jacket: Despite the daytime heat, temperatures can plummet rapidly at higher altitudes.
- Chair: Seating options are limited, so bringing your own is advisable.
- Binoculars: Ensure they're not of the screw-top sippy booze variety.
- Camera: Both professional and amateur photographers are anticipated to flock to the site.
As tonight's event may draw a crowd, we'd like to offer a few alternative locations:
- Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint: Offers an equally stunning vista, albeit without the architectural backdrop.
- Head out towards the beach!
- Larch Mountain was suggested, basically anything outside the city with a view north!
Please RSVP here, indicating your preferred attendance night and we will see if there is a meetup area that might work.
