Portland Future Leaders In Tech (pdxFLIT) is back! Have you been eager to check out one of our events? Luckily, another chance to become a part of this up-and-coming community is quickly approaching! pdxFLIT is an organization that is open to tech affiliates of all abilities, backgrounds, and skill levels. Our vision revolves around creating an inclusive, welcoming community within the world of tech - and we're doing it one event at a time!
"Development Engagement Starter Pack" is the theme for this month's event. As always, our format will be casual and conversational so that attendees can interact and mingle as they see fit. We'll be having a few talks related to the overall theme and have another wonderful roster of speakers lined up. This month, you'll have a chance to see the following presentations:
Emma Holland - "Why Do We Need Community Management?" Emma is a Community Manager for the online technical education platform Thinkful.
Michelle Levine - TBD, Michelle is the Open Source Lead for Women Who Code.
Jonan Scheffer - "Sleeping In Airports: The Magical, Terrible Life of a Developer Advocate". Jonan is a Developer Advocate and works at the popular web hosting site Heroku.
Doors open at 5 30 PM and talks will happen at roughly 6 PM. There will be time for mingling, conversation, and networking outside of the speaking times. If you need to come a bit later, don't worry about getting locked out! Just post on this page and somebody can come downstairs and let you in. This event will be happening at Puppet Labs on SW 2nd Avenue.
Given that we are still a very new group, please note that we are still in the process of securing sponsorship so that we can provide a full range of food and drinks at our events. Light refreshments may be served, but we would suggest eating beforehand if immediate nourishment is a concern. If you would like to help support our group by assisting in sponsorship so that we can secure catering for future events, please contact one of our organizers!
We kindly ask that you abide by our Code of Conduct and Puppet's Code of Conduct when attending this event. They can be found at the following destinations:
