PDX Dog Training Practice

Are you taking a dog training class and looking for other dogs and people to practice your homework with? Finished a class and want to polish some skills? Do you and your dog just enjoy training? You're in the right place! We'll meet at various indoor and outdoor venues around the Portland metro area to train our dogs together and help each other with skills.

What this group is:

• A place to practice training around other dogs and work on skills together, like calmly approaching each other or settling on a mat
• A forum to meet other dog training students and support each other in your training goals and dog-raising challenges

What this group is not:

• This is not a structured training class. You are welcome to work on whatever skills you want either individually or with other group members, at whatever distance your dog is comfortable at. Your group admin is not a certified dog trainer.
• This is not a play group. That said, many events will take place in locations where our dogs can play together after we train as a reward!

A few rules for the safety of all of our dogs:

• Your dog must be current on all required vaccinations
• Puppies must have completed their full set of initial vaccinations
• Your dog must not show any signs of illness within 24 hours of an event
• Your dog should be comfortable around other dogs and should not lunge at other dogs or people, bark continuously, or otherwise act aggressively
• You must agree to be fully responsible for your dog and to remove your dog if their behavior is inappropriate

Please reach out if you are not sure if this group is appropriate for you and your dog. If it's not, we'd be happy to refer you to a qualified trainer or behaviorist.

We are proud to be a force-free group. Aversive training methods and devices are not permitted at group events, including but not limited to: yelling, leash pops, hitting, ear pinches, shock collars, e-collars, choke collars, and prong collars.
