Hands-on MicroPython Workshop with Sev Leonard

Details

Come learn about the Internet of Things and Micropython in this FREE hands-on hardware tutorial led by Sev Leonard.

Beginners are welcome: no soldering or hardware experience required!

Hardware will be provided, and SPACE IS LIMITED

YOU NEED A TICKET TO ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP!

Tickets available at https://ti.to/pdxpython/micropython-workshop on a first-come first-served basis.

This is a FREE workshop with a $15 deposit.
When you check in at the event, your full ticket price will be refunded, or you can choose to donate it to Women Who Code Portland (https://www.womenwhocode.com/portland). The fees from any no-show tickets will be donated to Women Who Code.

Given the small amount of hardware we have, we want to make sure that everyone who registered attends.

BRING your power cords with you! The current provided through the USB connection may not be sufficient when powered by battery alone.

What will the workshop be like?

Fun! We will be building a wifi-enabled temperature sensor as a vehicle for learning IoT concepts including blinking LEDs, data capture, and messaging between IoT clients and servers. We have hardware for you to play with and attendees will be able to program the devices via a locally-hosted web interface. If you plan to attend please see the setup instructions to prepare your system: https://github.com/gizm00/esp8266_micropython_lab

Attendees, volunteers and presenters must abide by the Portland Python Usergroup code of conduct: https://www.meetup.com/pdxpython/pages/Code_of_Conduct/
