(July 2012) Portland Python Workshop for Women and their friends

Details
Learn and practice Python basics
This workshop is sponsored by Decipher (http://www.decipherinc.com/)! They'll be providing us with snacks, beverages, and lunch on Sunday.
This day and a half workshop is scheduled for Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. Here's the breakdown:
Saturday (7/28): 2-5pm
Sunday (7/29): 9:30-4:30pm
You'll need to bring a wireless-enabled laptop.
Audience: Women and their friends who have no or limited programming experience. This event is welcoming and respectful of trans women. Men who want to learn Python are welcome as guests of women who are attending (please RSVP as well).
On Saturday afternoon we'll set up your development environment and go over some fundamentals of computing and programming.
On Sunday we'll spend a good chunk of the day on an introduction to Python, taking breaks to practice concepts on bite-sized exercises. In the afternoon we'll break out into groups to practice Python using CodingBat (http://codingbat.com/python).
You must be able to attend both days of the workshop to participate.
Our goal is to provide an environment in which women can develop their programming skills with confidence. Our staff are predominantly women from the Portland programming and open source communities.
