Help us ring in the new year with some Pythonic talks!

We've got a great talk on tap for this month!

If you've ever been mystified by git, use git regularly, or just want to deepen your understanding of version control in general, come check out:

  • The good parts of git, in Python by Edmund Huber

Git is amazing! But have you ever tried to teach someone how to use it? In this talk, we'll explore the ideas behind git that make it so successful. We'll also talk about the pain points. What are the design goals for any VCS? What about a VCS that accomplishes many of the good parts of git (and not the bad parts)? If git is a modern fighter jet, then its more approachable equivalent might look like "wad" ("Where's All the Data?"), a git -lite written in Python. I will share with you the things that I've learned writing wad, testing it, and designing it to be a "git for everyone".

Join us afterward at Bailey's Taproom 213 SW Broadway to continue the discussion over a beverage.

Do you have something you'd like to share? Email us (info@pdxpython.io).

Join us on our python.org mailing list (http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/portland) and on #pdxpython on Freenode. All are welcome!
