Tutorial: Rust from a scripting background

Details
If you come from Python, JavaScript, or another scripting language, this meeting will cover the initial topics that you need to understand to become a systems programmer using Rust! If you've managed memory in C or C++, some of these concepts will be review. Intrepid novices learning Rust as their first programming language are welcome to attend, and pick up the basics as you go.
There will be hands-on examples, so bring your laptop! If you don't have access to a laptop and would like to borrow one for the meeting, let edunham know.
For more experienced Rustaceans, we'll still devote the second hour of the meeting to hacking and social time.
This meetup happens on the first Wednesday of every month, from 6-7pm. March's meeting will be at Mozilla's Portland space.
Join us in #pdxrust on irc.freenode.net (
) with any feedback about what you'd like to see!
Remember that Rust's Code of Conduct (https://www.rust-lang.org/conduct.html) applies to this event.
Logistics:
Parking near the building can be scarce. The Mozilla office is close to the 11th&Couch stop and 10th&Couch stop on the NS streetcar line, and within walking distance of several bus lines. Covered bike parking is available in the courtyard that you cross to get to Mozilla's building, across from the Peet's Coffee and Tea seating area.
Food is not yet planned for the event. If your company would like to sponsor food for the meeting, let edunham know (rustpdx@edunham.net, or IRC).
