Lisa Savage Speaks on War and Climate Change

Details
Military harms to the climate and environment are significant…but they are undercounted and underreported by design. When we add in ramped-up rocket launches with virtually no regulation – plus several hot wars that include events such as the release of methane from the Nord Stream pipeline bombing – we see climate chaos accelerating.
How does the military get a virtual free pass on emissions and other pollution? And what can be done about it?
Lisa Savage, a member of the Board of The Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, will talk about the role of the military in climate change. She will use words, slides and graphics to illustrate the science and the depth of the problem.
The April 14 event will begin at the earlier-than-usual time of 4 PM PST.
Lisa Savage is an antiwar activist, retired teacher, writer, and organizer in Maine. She ran for that state’s U.S. Senate seat (against Susan Collins) in 2020. Her articles and op-eds on militarism have been published in Common Dreams and Counterpunch. She blogs at went2thebridge.substack.com. Her work with the Global Network includes managing its social media accounts. She is also currently organizing with the Maine Coalition for Palestine, as well as a statewide anti-war coalition that holds monthly protests.
We look forward to seeing you for a closer look at the ever-concerning issue of climate change and its connection to the military.
