Dance Upon a City
Details
"Dance Upon a City" is the outdoor edition of "Dance Upon a Time", a weekly early morning rave & playful movement class.
We will be dancing in public spaces on a Sunday morning each month.
- Which Sunday morning? Pencil in the 25th of January from 11am but:
- It depends on the weather. Not the forecast. 10% rain can mean: no rain, storm, sun and everything in between. For live updates check your email in the morning.
- What public spaces?
- Carefully selected for least interference with public life (This is not a street performance.)
We will be completing a 'dance route' that consists of four to six stops across Bristol.
Our meeting point for this session will be at the car park of Co-op in Wyatts View, in St Anne's.
What to expect:
- guided warm-up (bouncy ancient Chinese work-out. Not Qi Gong! We need to keep it moving, it's Wintertime.)
- walking in a weird way (your choice/get inspired by others)
- holding postures (6 x 30 seconds)
- dancing to your favourite tunes (bring your headphones!)
- cross lateral exercises (for left-right brain synchronisation)
- playful exercises (site specific and time based concepts, no performing skills required)
- kung-fu (kidding)
About me:
Dori Jo (@dori___jo) is a trained mime performer and a martial art enthusiast. Drawing on her experience from facilitating "Slow Cycling Bike Rides" across Bristol and hosting "Hush City - What do you do when you do you?", an offline co-relaxing/co-unproductive space at the Arts Mansion, she is now facilitating morning raves with guided warm-ups across Bristol.
About the class:
The class is particularly beneficial for individuals with ADHD and for people whose nervous system is stuck in Freeze mode as a result of C-PTSD i.e. a shit childhood.
The goal of the class is to flood your system with Serotonin, make you chuckle, swell your heart... make being alive feel great again.
Note: Good fitness level required.
Are you a morning bird? Nor am I. I hope to meet fellow morning "grumps".
Let the dance out!
Any genre, any move = dancing people are never wrong.
See you in St Anne's [b]ravers on the 25th (Sunday) at 11am SHARP!
