Views Views Views! The picture shows Hoosier Ridge from neighboring Mt. Silverheels, with 14er Quandry behind. While the summit of Hoosier Ridge isn't all that impressive to look at, the surrounding Front Range and Ten Mile Range peaks are stunning in the snow. This hike will require snowshoes to start through the trees and soft snow. Then we *may be able to stash snowshoes on the ridge and boot it along the extended series of bumps to the largest summit bump. With a 3000' elevation gain total (bumps bumps bumps), and 9.25 miles round trip, this hike will require some endurance, especially if snow is deep on the ridge. Be willing to get yourself back to the trailhead if you decide not to continue with the group, at any point. This is a low (not zero) risk hike with relatively straight forward navigation.

RT - 9.25 miles
Elevation Gain - 3000'
Pace - Slow to Moderate
Weather - too early to tell, but expect wind. Check back here a couple days before the trip
Avalanche risk - low if you stay on the ridge
Bring - Winter Hiking gear, Snowshoes are required, consider bringing gaiters for deep snow, and for wind consider goggles, buff/balaclava

Meeting Location - Hoosier Pass Trailhead parking by 8:00 am. You can get there from the north via I-70 to Hwy 9 through Breckenridge, or from the south via Hwy 285 to Hwy 9 in Fairplay. I won't set up a carpool, but you can use the Event Chat to set up carpools on your own.

Out of respect for people on the waitlist, please try to cancel at least 24 hours before the trip if you can't go. No shows (no cancelation) get two strikes then are removed from the group. Please use a different venue to set up separate trips, rather than do that in the comments/chat, thanks.
