This route takes you to the beautiful alpine Lion Lakes and Snowbank Lake. The views should be gorgeous, with multitudes of wildflowers at this time of the year. For the first 3 miles, we will be traveling along the popular Wild Basin Trail, but there will be fewer people after we turn into Thunder Lake Trail.
Please arrive early enough to find parking and get ready for the hike as we would like to start on time. Parking lot tends to fill, and then one needs to park quite a distance away. I am not sure at what time do they man the gate, but you may need to have your annual park entrance pass. If you don’t have a pass, you may be able to team up with somebody and meet in the parking lot right before the gate.
Remember, the weather can change quickly in the mountains. Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions, including rain and wind. Have enough snacks, water; you may grab a filter as there will be plenty of water that can be filtered.
We will meet at the wild basin trailhead, which is in the parking area at the very end of the road.
By signing up for this hike you take a full responsibility for your safety.
