Chasm Lake Hike
Details
Chasm Lake is gorgeous in winter with snowy highlights on the Diamond of Longs Peak, and other surrounding rocky formations. Much of this 8.5 mile hike will be above treeline. The last scramble up to the lake could be slippery. Microspikes are recommended, along with the usual winter layers, wind shell, waterproof boots, snacks, and water in a freeze resistant container.
We will hike as a group, re-grouping at all forks in the trail. Please be able to navigate back to the trail if you turn around before the lake. Our average pace will be 1 - 3 mph. Please don't sign up for this hike if you are unwilling to wait for the group.
Meeting Place: Longs Peak Trailhead Sign
Meet Time: Ready to Hike at 8 am
Roundtrip Distance: 8.5 miles
Gear: Winter Hiking Gear
Check comments a few days before the hike for snow and weather updates. I don't think we'll need snowshoes, but will confirm as we get closer to the event.
