Daylight Savings Starts! Don't forget to set your clock ahead one hour!

Although described as one of the 'easiest 14ers in Colorado ', Quandary Peak deserves respect and careful attention as a winter snow climb. We will stay on the avalanche safe Winter Route of the East Ridge. Snowshoes are required, though depending on weather, we might be able to use microspikes on part of the hike. You can hike at your own pace, but if you are unfamiliar with the route please stay with the group. Bring and know how to use a navigation app such as Cal Topo, Gaia or even All Trails so that you can safely navigate back to the parking lot if you turn around before the group.

You are responsible for bringing appropriate gear and for your own safety.

Parking reservations are not required this time of year.

Bring layers, a warm hat and gloves/mittens, wind shell jacket, buff or balaclava, snowshoes, gaiters recommended, warm and waterproof boots, plenty of water in a container that won't freeze, snacks. See Winter Hiking Checklist

Meeting Place/Time - Quandary Pk Trailhead sign Ready to hike at 7:45 am
Round trip - 6.75 miles

I am not arranging carpools since I may stay up there Saturday night. Comment to set up carpools. I recommend leaving Wooly Mammoth Park and Ride sign BB by 5:45 am.

Watch comments a few days before the hike for updated snow and weather conditions, or any last minute changes.

As always, please change your RSVP if you decide not to go.
