Pedals & Pints Downs Link
Details
A relaxed ride-at-your-own-pace social cycling event from the Downs Link towards Brighton, with a proper pub stop built in.
This is the first Pedals & Pints ride a cycling event for people who like getting out on the bike but don’t want the pressure of a full-on club ride.
The route follows the Downs Link, an old railway line that links Surrey and Sussex. It’s mostly traffic-free, scenic and social, with a mix of gravel paths, woodland tracks and quiet sections.
The plan is simple: follow the route at your own pace, meet at key stops along the way, then finish with a drink and a chat.
This is not a race. It’s not about Strava segments, expensive kit or cycling egos. It’s about bikes, decent people and enjoying the ride.
You’ll need:
A gravel bike, mountain bike, hybrid or suitable e-bike
A helmet
Water
A spare inner tube or repair kit
Weather-appropriate clothing
Money/card for food and drinks
A lock if you want one for the pub stop
Pace:
This is a ride-at-your-own-pace event. Some people may ride quicker, others may take it steadier. The aim is not to keep everyone bunched together — it’s to enjoy the route, meet at planned stops, and finish together for a drink.
Ticket price:
£12.50 per rider
This helps keep the event organised properly and gives everyone a confirmed place on the ride.
Final route details, meeting point and pub stop information will be shared with confirmed attendees before the event.
