Big Cliff Rappelling at Little Pine Creek State Park
Details
We will meet up at 1:00PM in front of the State Park HQ building and then at 1:05PM on the parking lot for the Lake Shore Trail. If you are late go to the Lake Shore Trail parking area along Little Pine Creek Road, Waterville, PA.
The event is a short HIGH RISK hike & rappelling adventure! Experienced and first time adventure seekers should go for it! Like always, we will complete the release form, discuss risks, and develop an emergency plan for the day. Next all will conduct belay training, falling rock drills & then step by step rappelling training in order to complete rappelling during special conditions.
The hike is about 1/4 mile on rugged terrain and includes hiking off trail. The event may include getting your feet wet and bringing extra socks and footwear is a good idea. There is no way to avoid that. . . so prepare for that and bring dry clothes for after the event. You will bushwhack a few hundred meters, cross swamp/moving water and explore varied terrain.
Please bring a snack, water, bug spray, sunblock, first aid kit & extra clothes for your ride back to civilization. You must wear a tight fitting shirt that tucks into your belted jeans/pants/leggings/BDU's/ACU's/MCU’s. Another requirement is to keep hair under a hat or Kevlar Helmet. All equipment is provided.

HAIR MUST BE UP & SECURE UNDER THE HAT OR KEVLAR HELMET
We will be careful and follow step by step safety driven training to ensure safety for everyone. Remember, we are careful so we have fun!
First, we'll do a quick meet and greet. . . I will have a ORANGE hat on. Next, we'll review the release form which includes the safety briefing about the plan of the day and you must sign the release forms and pay $20.00 for first timers and $10.00 for experienced Brave Ones. I'll describe why it is risky- but if you do everything the correct way we’ll have a great day of adventure- rappelling!
Next, it is time for equipment issue, inspections, and knot tying for the event. Then, we'll hike to the cliff and get started. The tasks we'll complete include a quick little knot tying class, swiss seat class, and an easy tree line rappel demo. To ensure it is a safe adventure we will do a FALLING ROCK ACTIONS/DRILL and train for belay duties. Plus we'll start doing voice commands, and belay safety duties for real. Then you'll learn to rig up a swiss seat and when you are ready you'll go for the cliff and then SPECIAL EVENT.
At the end of the day we'll hike back, turn in gear.
