National Trails Day Event – Brule River State Forest
Saturday, June 6, Highland, WI
Location: Highland Town Hall, 9360 County Rd S, Lake Nebagamon, WI 54849 - All events will start from Highland Town Hall at various times (see schedule below).
What’s It All About?
To celebrate National Trails Day the Brule-St. Croix, Chequamegon, and Heritage Chapters will meet together for hikes, paddle sports, and a potluck. The public is welcome to this free event!
- All events start at the Highland Town Hall.
- The event will be held rain or shine, but to be notified about any last-minute schedule changes due to weather, RSVP to meetup.com/sscbhikers.

| 8:00 | Highland Town Hall Opens |

| 8:30 | Assemble for 5.5-mile (2.5 – 3.0 hr.) hike from Highland Town Hall to Jersett Creek campsite and return. Pink lady slippers are often blooming at this time of year among the pines at the beginning of this hike. The hike descends into and ascends from forested ravines following the rim of the Brule River Valley. |
| 9:00 | Assemble for 5.0-mile (2.0 – 2.5 hr.) hike. We will caravan to Gaylord Nelson Portal and hike 5.0 miles back to Highland Town Hall. This hike starts and ends in pine forest with Motts Ravine State Natural Area in the middle. |
| 11:30 | Set up for Potluck. Bring your own beverages (no alcohol) and a dish to share, but keep cold |
foods cold and hot foods hot. Limited refrigerator space and electrical outlets available in Highland Town Hall. Plates, tableware, napkins, and cups provided. |
| 12:00 | Potluck – YUM! A brief introduction by chapter leaders to the three Wisconsin Chapters and the North Country Trail. |
| 1:00+ | Afternoon will be on your own. Highland Town Hall will close once potluck is cleaned up. Here are some ideas for your afternoon fun: Green and underlined have camping available. |
