Pensacola Singletons

This is a fund-raiser for Animal Allies of Florida, a no-kill animal rescue organization operating spay-neuter and adoption programs for cats and kittens. You can help our pointy-eared friends by participating in this event.

For $10 (cash only) you get three sets of cards that are good for all 10 rounds. There are cash prizes for bingo and in between rounds there are raffles for door prizes. Dinner is an additional cost.

Dinner is at 6 p.m. and the first bingo game is at 7 p.m.

Directions: From the Target Shopping center, go west on Nine Mile Road; past Another Broken Egg turn right onto Scenic Hills Drive and then left on Burning Tree. If you're coming from the west, the left turn onto Scenic Hills Drive is opposite the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.

Join us for dinner two Wednesday nights per month -- tentatively the second and fourth Wednesday, but that schedule will occasionally be tweaked in order to avoid conflicts with holidays and other events.

The venue for May 22 will be Sake Cafe on Ninth Ave. just south of Bayou Blvd. Sake is a traditional Japanese restaurant that offers steak, chicken, and seafood entrees prepared on a grill in front of you by a hibachi chef. Sake also offers a variety of Japanese beers and wines.

Start time is 5:30. Because of the uniqueness of the hibachi experience, the staff will not seat us until the entire party is present, so please be ON TIME or EARLY. If you arrive late or show up without being on the list, you will not be able to sit with us.

Cervantes (near its intersection with Scenic Hwy). This is the venue for which we were rained out on May 18. RSVPs limited to 10.

Join us for lunch on the first and third Saturdays of each month. June 1 we will be at Sky's Pizza at 5559 N. Davis Hwy (between Airport Blvd and Bayou Blvd, just north of Home Depot). Sky's offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, calzones, whole pizzas, and single slices.

I will get there early and try to secure the high-top table for six on the right side of the restaurant, along with two tables of four. This is a small venue and is always crowded on Saturday (it's one of my usual haunts), so RSVPs will be limited to 14.
