RIDE ON WASHINGTON
Details
Goal:
This ride is about standing up for democracy when it feels like it’s in danger. Our government was created by us, the people, to make our country better. That means it’s our job to take care of it and fix it when needed. The People Power Peloton wants to remind everyone that we all share this power together. It’s about all of us—there is no them!
This social ride will begin at the Lincoln Memorial at 12 noon on October 11 and again on October 12 at 12 noon. The first 10 people to sign up and show up will receive free t- shirts ( I have 2-M, 6-L, and 2-XL)
Itinerary:
Starting at the Lincoln Memorial. You’ll head east along the Reflecting Pool, passing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the World War II Memorial, and then continue to the Washington Monument. From there, you’ll head south to the Tidal Basin, visiting the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the FDR Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial. After that, you’ll ride back north past the Smithsonian Museums to the U.S. Capitol, then head west toward the White House, and finally return to the Lincoln Memorial. The total distance is about 5.6 miles and should take roughly 2 to 3 hours with stops. You’ll find bike parking at each major memorial, and just remember to walk your bike in certain memorials. Enjoy the ride!
