Read Along - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - Session 2

Details
(I know, I know, but I couldn't find an illustration that would work without paying money for it. Besides, I like this one! and it matches our last one.)
This is Part 2 of an annual tradition for us of reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, out-loud, together. When you've been admitted to the reading room, please rename yourself with at least your first name and the number that the host will give you in order of your appearance. This is also the order that we will read in.
Wikisource has the most readable and navigable online texts. So we will use the 1843 version available at the link below (copy and past into your browser). This version has pictures too!.

We will begin this session in the middle-ish of Stave Three, with the paragraph that beings: "By this time it was getting dark, and snowing pretty heavily; and as Scrooge and the Spirit went along the streets,..."
We planned it this way, not only so we could actually get through the whole book when reading out loud, but also so that we would have time afterwards to discuss some of the ideas presented, the social situation of the times, how we felt at various points in the story, the gentle humor in the story, and anything else that comes up around this at this time of year.
As always, if you RSVP as a "yes" and then realize you will not be present after all, please update your attendance on this site so that we know not to expect you and can plan the reading accordingly. Thanks.
