What Have You Been Reading This Year?
Details
This is our annual sharing of interesting, thought-provoking, memorable books that we have individually read this year, in addition to the few that we have chosen as a group to discuss together each month. Since we all read for pleasure in addition to reading for this discussion group, here's a chance to share the riches, to discover new authors, ideas, eras, and cultures.
Also, this is the meeting where we discuss and choose the big book we want to use as our "theme" book for the next year. Typically, it's a book that is 1,000 pages or more in length, something that can be divided into 4 sections for discussion so that the whole thing is manageable. It occurs to me that we could also divide it into 3 sections, or even 2, for a book that is fascinating but just a bit too long for all us busy people to read completely in one month.
It would be wonderful if everyone who attends this month brought at least one theme book suggestion to our meeting to help give us a variety of choices. And, of course, we will also need to choose our January book.
As always, if you RSVP as a "yes" and then realize you cannot be present after all, please update your attendance record on this site so that we know not to expect you. Thanks.
