Murakami has been described as a "truly extraordinary writer", and "among the world's greatest living novelists." And like his other novels, this book also explores themes of fate, memory, love, and the subconscious, blending the mundane with the fantastical in a dreamlike, metaphysical journey.

We will be delving into structure of the novel, literary tropes, as well as cultural / historical context used by Murakami.
