Verdi's Rigoletto

Victor Hugo was an incisive critic of power, at that time, the tyranny of kings #nomorekings. Verdi took a tale of the villainy in power, changed the names to pass the censors and added some powerful music to match the drama. Opera Santa Barbara stages Rigoletto sharp tongue and the hubris of the Count leads to, as much opera does, immense tragedy. $65-155 ticket link
