FARM DESCRIPTION:
"PK's Four Brothers is a REGENERATIVE farm. This simply means that we understand the animals we are raising to be land-healing tools first, among their many other capacities. We turn them into land-healing tools via our MANAGEMENT. Without good management, these animals would be liabilities on the land. They would denude the soil, overgraze, root up desirable plants, and otherwise degenerate the land base. By managing them intentionally, we transform their impact, such that they instead fertilize, scarify, prune and beneficently disturb the land.

What this mainly means in practical terms is that we move our animals. It gets more complicated when we start to discuss the how's, the where's, the when's and the why's, each of which has its own elaborate and mercurial explanation. But the basic concept is that we move them. You may have noticed that in nature, animals move. They are not confined to feedlots or CAFOs (Confined Animal Feeding Operations). Our animals move in the image of their wilder cousins, with the help of our human choreography. We move our broilers (meat chickens) and turkeys every morning, our cows at least once but often many more times per day, our pigs twice per week, and our laying hens every 48 hours. It may sound like a lot of work, but it's actually not that much in addition to providing feed and water, and it also eliminates the need for most pharmaceutical interventions, for extra feed, for permanent physical infrastructure, etc. "
