Its already been an exciting spring for POP with more plantings and events to come!  Please see below for details on our full event schedule, including this weekend's Bountiful Berries workshop at Greensgrow and plant sale at Awbury.  We've also added several new plantings to the schedule!  
You can also read about the proposed Philadelphia Prison Systems Orchard and listen to POP Director Phil Forsyth's TEDx talk on urban orchards.  Please consider a donation to help us continue to expand community orchards in neighborhoods across the city!

Saturday, April 26 @ 12 - 2pm
Greensgrow Farm, 2501 E. Cumberland, North Philly

POP Director Phil Forsyth comes to Greensgrow to give you the basics of growing berries and brambles, from plant selection to planting to pruning. We'll discuss common fruits like blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries and introduce some more unusual options like goumis, gooseberries, and bush cherries. $25.

Awbury Agricultural Village, 1011 E. Washington Ln, NW Philly
POP is leading an orchard work day and plant sale as part of Awbury Arboretum's Earth & Arbor Day celebration. We'll be weeding, mulching, and planting and our plant sale will feature figs, blueberries, strawberries, and wide range of common and uncommon fruit trees, berry bushes, vines, and perennial herbs.  Awbury's Earth & Arbor Day event will also include games, tours, crafts, and food!  11am - 3pm.  See for more details.

Lend a hand in converting Walnut Hill Farm's orchard into a food forest with underplantings of perennials and groundcovers. And check out the recently completed Walnut Hill Community Park!

Help plant berries and spread a mountain of mulch at the new food forest demonstration garden at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. A collaboration between Parks & Rec, Philadelphia Master Gardeners, POP, and Fairmount Park Conservancy.
